Wreath
that the children can made.Grade Three and
Four sheet - Children make their own wreath (Adventskranz).
This activity consists of a design for the wreath to be coloured in using felt
markers for twigs and ribbons, and green pencil for background. It is then
pasted onto a plate or thicker paper and carefully cut out. The candles and
flames (KerzenFlammen und Ständer) are coloured in, cut out and folded where
marked "hier falten". The backs of candles and flames are pasted
together, creating a double-sided candle and flame. Paste is applied to the
bases (Ständer)of the candles, which are then attached to the wreath to form a
circular base (Ständer). The bases (Ständer) lie flat on the wreath, whilst
the four candles stand up.
Note : A Prep and Grade One Advent paper-tearing
activity that requires large green kindersquares and photocopied sheet is
available by contacting the author at Billanook Primary School. For this
activity the children colour the candles red and the flames yellow, then tear
small pieces of green paper and glue these to wreath.
