Performing Arts
Whole School Productions
Our school stages a whole school production every two years. Every student in the school takes part in the productions which are the focus of the year’s Performing Arts program. In 2004 we staged ‘The Wizard of Oz’ which was a beautiful production, nothing short of fantastic. Audience members were singing along to many old time favourites including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, “We’re off to see the Wizard” and “Ding, dong the Witch is Dead”.
2006 was the year of ‘Peter Pan the Croc Rock Musical’ where all students sang and danced their way through a fabulous production based on the JM Barrie classic. As always the Billanook children put on a very professional show that was enjoyed by all. Each production staged by the school is complimented by eye-catching lavish sets and props which are under the direction of our Visual Arts teacher, Mrs. Janette Blain. Costumes for the productions are made by a team of very committed and diligent parents. Many costumes are designed to not only fit into the storyline of the script but to compliment all props, staging and lighting.
The school is committed
to giving each student the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents that
are nurtured in the Arts program at Billanook. We believe the results speak for
themselves.
Below are some pictures taken from our latest great production - the 2009 Wakakirri production.
